A Canadian Ghost Town

The images below are of Smuts, Saskatchewan, north of Saskatoon.  We drove through Smuts on the way to Wakaw Lake where Rob’s Mom & Stepdad had a camper and I was totally taken in by the town.  On the way back Rob was sweet enough to stop so I could take some pictures.

This was my first experience in a ghost town and we were the only ones there.  It was eerie, not scary, but strange.  The abandonment, decay and stillness left me feeling very sad.

The town is supposed to be haunted but we didn’t have any encounters with ghosts, just old buildings still standing proudly in the middle of nowhere, reminding us that they were at one time occupied and that people had once lived their lives there.
